In January of 2014, The Blessing Bags was founded in Bradenton, Florida. They are a group of concerned citizens who have a love for the homeless in our community.

They collect travel size personal hygiene products, sunscreen, hand sanitizers, etc.. Volunteers get together and put the items in ziploc bags and we then distribute them as needed. They also collect Beanie Babies and make Children’s Blessing Bags. They have now expanded into Sarasota, Pinellas and Hillsboro County.

Their vision is to provide Blessing Bags to the homeless in every community in Florida. Together…THEY ARE making a difference in our communities!

2016 was a year of great accomplishments.  They became a non-profit with a 501 (c) 3 status, held our first fundraiser, and provided a “Magical Christmas Party” and gifts for 67 homeless children and their families.

In November, they were chosen by The Bridge Church to be one of four organizations who participated in their “Love Happens” week. Over 40 volunteers made 345 Blessing Bags which were distributed in Manatee County.

Donations Needed!…. Gallon size ziploc bags, sample size toiletries, tooth brushes, tooth paste, hand sanitizer, sunscreen, bug repellant, deodorant, reading glasses, combs, Chapstick, lotion, disposable rezors, tampoons and pads, band-aids, new socks for adult and children, granola bars, protein bars, pop-top canned goods, cheese crackers and more!

Watch for more information in the future.  The Swordfish Grill and Tiki will be hosting the “Giving Back” fundraiser on September 14, with all ticket proceeds going to the Blessing Bags Project.  Great food, drinks, raffles, silent auction, live music and more!
