Your Business Needs a New Website in 2021

| Suncoast Post Staff |

We are all excited that 2020 is coming to an end!  Our lives have been turned upside down and probably will never be the same again.  One thing for sure, everyone will be spending more time at home and doing a lot more research and learning “on-line”.  If you are a business owner, now is the time to take a long hard look at your website.

It’s a whole new world out there.  People shop differently, go out to eat differently, travel differently, consume differently, and participate in culture differently.  If you haven’t updated or built a new website for your company in the last year, now is the time.  It has become an “on-line” world.

Which Businesses Need a Website?

Restaurant Owners- It’s all about ordering on-line and using a 3rd party delivery services like Grub Hub, Uber Eats, Door Dash, and more.  Your website needs to allow viewers to order on-line and then use a delivery service to bring the food to their home or have curbside pickup.  With reduced capacity at restaurants, a “reservation system” on the website is very important.

On-Line Shopping Cart- You don’t have to be Amazon or Walmart to be able to sell your goods and services “on-line”.  Today’s technology allows for businesses both small and large to have an on-line selling presence.

Update vs New-   There is a big decision that has to be made.  A lot depends on the age of your website and also your budget.  Many sites can be refreshed or updated and some will need a full rebuild.

ADA- It is important to ensure that anyone, with any disability, can access and navigate your website.  The easiest way to explain: For a website to be accessible, written content must be coded for audio translation by vision-impaired users who depend on screen-reader software. Videos must include descriptions for the deaf and on-screen captions for the blind. All interactive functions must be operable through keyboard commands for people who can’t use a mouse.  There have been many companies that have been sued for non-compliance.
