The Opening of the Sunseeker Resort in Charlotte Harbor, FL Has Been Delayed – Again
Allegiant Travel Co. revealed another delay in the launch of the highly anticipated Sunseeker Resort Charlotte Harbor, originally slated for this October 2023.
The update, shared with stakeholders late Thursday, cited continued disruptions due to Hurricane Ian and subsequent seasonal weather challenges. The company also highlighted issues sourcing construction personnel.
Despite the setbacks – which include a 17-month pause due to COVID-19 in 2020, a halt after Hurricane Ian in 2022, and a fire incident at the site last February – the budget remains unaffected, even after inflating from $185 million to a whopping $695 million.
As of now, Allegiant is in the final stages of the resort’s completion. This marks the project’s fourth delay since its commencement in 2019. While the resort’s debut was initially projected for late 2020, unforeseen challenges have shifted the timeline several times.
Allegiant remains optimistic, promising to announce an official opening date soon. Once operational, guests can look forward to a luxurious stay at Sunseeker Resort, boasting 785 rooms, 20 dining and bar options, a spa and salon, two pools, a unique “ground-level experience,” an exclusive rooftop retreat, expansive meeting areas, a scenic harbor walk, and a full-fledged 18-hole golf course.
