The Bay Park Launches Friends of The Bay Campaign

| Suncoast Post Staff |

The Bay Park Conservancy (BPC) is excited to announce its annual Friends of The Bay campaign! Launching September 18 and running through October 23, the campaign invites every member of the community to support the creation of a world-class park by becoming a Friend of The Bay.

Through this Friends of The Bay campaign, The Bay Park aims to provide a meaningful way to make philanthropy accessible for everyone in the community. By donating as little as $25, anyone can help us transform a parking lot into an open, accessible, free and welcoming public park.

This year, multiple matching opportunities make your gift more impactful than ever. In addition to The Patterson Foundation’s recently announced matching challenge, an anonymous donor has offered to make an additional donation for each person that signs up as a Friend of The Bay.

If The Bay can inspire 250 people to donate, the anonymous donor will add an extra $25 per person. If 500 people donate, they will add an extra $50 per person. If 1,000 people donate, an additional $100 will be donated per person – resulting in an additional $100,000 match towards the creation of the park.

To date, The Bay Park initiative has been funded primarily by private sources, including major foundations, family foundations, individual philanthropists, and hundreds of future visitors who believe in the value of The Bay. So, please consider being a Friend of The Bay as every donor and every dollar counts towards these generous matches.

The Bay is on track to fully open in the summer of 2022, providing an iconic destination that will welcome everyone to Sarasota. From sunset strolls to free park programs, The Bay offers park-goers a place to gather, connect, explore and appreciate Florida’s natural beauty.

About The Bay

The approved Bay master plan will conserve 53 acres of city-owned land and create an iconic public park along Sarasota Bay. The Park will cost about $100-150 million and will take between 7-10 years, over 3 or more phases to complete. The Blue Pagoda serves as a welcome center for visitors and an on-site office for The Bay Park Conservancy. About The Bay Park Conservancy

The Bay Park Conservancy (BPC) was formed as a 501c3 not-for-profit organization in 2019 to implement the master plan approved by the Sarasota City Commission to conserve 53 acres of public land for a community park on Sarasota Bay. The BPC entered a long-term partnership with the City and will fund, develop, operate, and sustain the park for the benefit of the community, now, and for generations to come.
