Sarasota’s Beloved Hob Nob Drive-In Set to Reopen in Spring 2026 With Classic Burgers and a Fresh Vision

One of Sarasota’s most nostalgic food landmarks is officially gearing up for a comeback. The Hob Nob Drive-In, a nearly 70-year-old drive-in burger joint that has long held a special place in local hearts, is planning to reopen in Spring 2026, bringing back classic comfort food with a modern operational twist.

The reopening effort is being led by Sarasota resident Troy King, who announced the plans via social media.

Although an exact reopening date has not yet been announced, organizers are targeting Spring 2026, giving the team time to restore the site while preserving the nostalgic character that made Hob Nob a Sarasota institution for generations. The Hob Nob originally opened in the 1950s and quickly became a staple for locals, snowbirds, and families looking for an affordable, no-frills meal served with a side of Americana.

According to social media posts and a related news release, the revived Hob Nob Drive-In will stay true to its roots with a menu built around old-school drive-in favorites. Guests can expect smash burgers, crinkle-cut fries, onion rings, and classic milkshakes, along with a thoughtfully curated beer program. That beverage lineup is expected to blend well-known national brands with rotating selections from local craft breweries—an update designed to appeal to both longtime fans and newer diners.

Despite these modern touches, the mission remains unchanged. The focus will continue to be on quality ingredients, approachable pricing, and classic comfort food. As King has described it, the goal is simple: “good food at affordable prices.”

The reopening also reflects a broader trend in Sarasota toward preserving beloved local businesses while adapting them for today’s dining landscape. Much like other historic eateries across Florida that have been successfully revived, Hob Nob’s return aims to balance nostalgia with sustainability—honoring its past while ensuring it thrives for decades to come.

For longtime residents, the reopening represents more than just burgers and fries; it’s the return of a shared community experience. And for newcomers, it will offer a chance to step into a living piece of Sarasota history—served hot, wrapped in paper, and enjoyed the way it always was meant to be.
