Sad But True- Ace’s Live Music Venue in Bradenton, Florida is Closing Its Doors
One of the premier music venues in our area, Ace’s Live has announced that they will be closing their doors after the final music jam with Mark Skey on Monday, April 16. The venue which has been operating for close to 30 years has been sold.
Ace’s has hosted some of the best live music in the country over the years. Local, regional and live acts have performed there. The barn-like structure has been a fabulous hangout for locals and tourists alike.
Some of the national acts that have played at Ace’s include: Albert Castiglia, Ana Popovic, Biscuit Miller and The Mix, Bryan Lee, Cassie Taylor, Commander Cody, Damon Fowler, the late Dan Toler, Debbie Davies, Devon Allman, Honey Tribe, Eric Lindell, Fred Eaglesmith, Mike Zito, Tinsley Ellis, Sauce Boss, Great Southern, Jimmy Thackery, Kelly Richey, Lil Ed and the Blues , Imperials, Lucky and Tamara Peterson, Michael Allman, The New Orleans Suspects, The Red Elvises, Rosie Ledet, Sean Costello, Trampled Under Foot, Mike Zito, Tinsley Ellis and Victor Wainwright ….and more!
There are so many local bands that have played there over the years along with some fabulous Music Jams….. Kettle of Fish, Twinkle Rock Soul Radio, Stretch and his Jam, Mark Skey Jam, Billy Rice Band, Doug Deming and the Jewel Tones, Lauren Mitchell, The Klick Band, George Worthmore, Mack Doss Sr., Ari & the Alibis and the list goes on and on!
So many memories, so much fun! The old barn is certainly going to be missed. One of my fondest memories for me was the “live video” we recorded for Kimberly Betts and the Sugarland Tribute Band and the Video Release Party for the Billy Rice Band for his video “Just Sayin”! Best of luck to owner, Renee Bennett and the really great staff at Ace’s.
