New Restaurants Coming To Fisherman’s Village

Punta Gorda is one of those small cities that has managed to retain its charm, protect its deep historic architecture, highlight its positioning with prime water everywhere and still encourage new growth.  In the surrounding areas it has an image of its own, unlike other beachy towns which cater to the tourists with souvenir and swimwear shops.  Sure, you can find that in Punta Gorda too, but also in the mix there will be plenty of mom-and-pop shops, beloved restaurants, artist studios and quaint spots to stop for some nature infused beauty from the breathtaking surroundings. Though some might say it was a poor locational decision, there is also the ginormous Sunseeker Resort just across the bridge.  Sunseeker Resort Charlotte Harbor – Waterfront Resort in Florida This hotel opened and sold quicker than I-75 fills up on an average Monday morning.  And though locals hated to see them go, Harpoon Harry’s and Captain’s Table old locations will be replaced with two new restaurants at Fisherman’s Village.  Out with the old and in with Castaway’s and Latitude 26.  Dine. According to Gulfshore Business magazine,  New restaurants coming to Fishermen’s Village in Punta Gorda, “Castaways will take over the first-floor space formerly occupied by Harpoon Harry’s, offering a laid-back, island-style atmosphere with updated menus and a redesigned interior. The new bar will sit at the center of the restaurant, providing 180-degree waterfront views — an upgrade from the previous bar’s wall-facing position. A small game area, a nostalgic feature of Harpoon Harry’s, will remain.  Upstairs, Latitude 26° will replace The Captain’s Table. The space will be refreshed with new energy and sweeping views of Charlotte Harbor while preserving the warm hospitality that regulars came to love.  Both restaurants are slated to open early 2026.”

Meanwhile, over at Sunseeker’s Resort, current owner Allegiant Travel Company is looking to finalize the sale of the resort to Blackstone Real Estate for $200 million at the end of this year.  From Allegiant’s website:  Blackstone (NYSE: BX) and Allegiant Travel Company (NASDAQ: ALGT)  announced that funds affiliated with Blackstone Real Estate have agreed to acquire Sunseeker Resort Charlotte Harbor from Allegiant for $200 million.

With 785 rooms spanning 22 waterfront acres on the Gulf Coast of Florida, Sunseeker Resort Charlotte Harbor is a brand-new resort with extensive core amenities, including multiple food and beverage concepts, two pools, a spa, a fitness center, a rooftop adult pool and bar, a championship golf course and more than 60,000 square feet of combined indoor meeting space.

Scott Trebilco, Senior Managing Director at Blackstone Real Estate, said: “The acquisition of this brand new, highly-amenitized resort demonstrates our strong conviction in hospitality and travel and the continued growth in group-oriented destinations. Allegiant has built a fantastic property and we look forward to bringing our extensive experience with large scale resorts to Sunseeker.”

“Blackstone’s extensive hospitality holdings and their execution capabilities make them the ideal counterparty for this transaction and also to help realize the full potential of Sunseeker Resort,” said Gregory C. Anderson, CEO at Allegiant Travel Company. “Furthermore, it supports Allegiant’s strategy centered around the airline and we plan to use the proceeds from the sale to repay debt and strengthen our balance sheet.”

Barclays served as financial advisor to Allegiant on this transaction.  The transaction is expected to close in the third quarter of 2025, subject to satisfying customary conditions.
