Joyland Country Music Night Club has reopened at it’s Bradenton, FL location at 5520 14th Street, just north of the Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport. Joyland has been home to country music fans for decades, boasting the area’s largest dance floor, live country music every weekend and occasional concerts by rising national superstar country music artists.
The new owners have upgraded the 15,000 square foot building with elevated seating boxes and decks, a larger stage to accommodate national acts, and a concert quality sound system rivaling that of the Van Wezel.
The previous owner retired and closed the club May 12, 2018. Joyland was purchased by Scott Serbin and Peter Mendelsohn, two members of the Daisy Dukes Band, a local country band that had frequently performed at Joyland. “Thanks to Rick and what he created with Joyland, we don’t need to reinvent the wheel, we just need to add some spokes,” says co-owner Scott Serbin. “We missed this place as much as the rest of the Joyland crowd and we want it to feel like home to them again. We can’t wait to bring it back along with some incredible entertainment from national and regional acts on regular basis, up and coming super stars, and to support the best in local country music.”
Joyland had frequently hosted big names in country music, such as Florida Georgia Line, Toby Keith, Rascal Flatts, Keith Urban, Luke Bryan, Blake Shelton, Trace Adkins, and more. Since opening in February of 2019, the new Joyland just hosted their first big national concert on May 10 with country music superstar Neal McCoy. Joyland plans to host monthly concerts with big name national country music artists, in addition to local and regional live country music every Friday and Saturday.
Joyland also offers dance lessons with champion dance instructors on their huge wood dance floor. Line Dance lessons are held on Thursday evenings from 7pm – 9pm, and Couples Dance lessons are held on Wednesday evenings 7pm – 9pm. The club also has 6 billiards tables for those who love to play pool, as well as other fun activities such as Corn Hole, Ping Pong and more. Weekly events at Joyland include Concert Karaoke on Wednesday, Ladies Night on Thursday and Five Dollar Fridays.
About Joyland Country Music Nightclub (from their website)
The venue began in 1958 as an event pavilion at Joyland Amusement Park in Pinellas Park. Previous owner Rick Lambert’s family purchased it in 1987. The Bradenton club changed it’s locations several times before settling on the 15,000-square foot facility at 5520 14th St. W., in 1994. Since then the club has become a regular concert hall stop for big name national country music acts. Prior to it’s closing in May, Joyland was arguably the favorite country music themed night club among Bradenton and Sarasota country music and line dancing fans, with over 21,000 Facebook likes.
