Huge Expansion at Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport
Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport (SRQ) continues to elevate the travel experience on Florida’s Suncoast with the grand opening of its state-of-the-art new terminal. This major development not only expands SRQ’s capacity but also sets a new standard for convenience, comfort, and culinary delights for travelers.
Allegiant Airlines Takes the Spotlight
The new terminal, featuring modern design and cutting-edge amenities, is exclusively occupied by Allegiant Airlines, one of the fastest-growing low-cost carriers in the country. With all gates in the terminal dedicated to Allegiant flights, the airline now has an even greater ability to connect passengers to a variety of destinations nationwide. This expansion underscores Allegiant’s commitment to SRQ as a strategic hub, offering residents and visitors alike increased travel options at affordable prices.

“This new terminal is a game-changer for Allegiant Airlines and our passengers,” said a representative from Allegiant. “We are thrilled to provide our customers with a seamless travel experience in this beautiful facility.”
The highly anticipated Concourse A, a sprawling 75,300-square-foot terminal designed to elevate the travel experience for passengers. Serving as Allegiant Air’s main hub, the new concourse is projected to accommodate over one million travelers in 2025.
By February 2025, Allegiant will offer flights to 35 destinations from SRQ, cementing its status as the airport’s largest carrier during the busy winter months. “They’ll have the most seats of anyone,” said SRQ CEO and President Rick Piccolo.
Concourse A marks a significant milestone for SRQ, combining local flavor with world-class amenities to create an exceptional travel hub for the region. With Allegiant Air’s expanded presence and enhanced facilities, SRQ is well-positioned to serve the growing number of travelers choosing Sarasota-Bradenton as their gateway to the Suncoast.
A Taste of Sarasota in the Terminal
One of the standout features of the new terminal is its commitment to showcasing the flavors of Sarasota. Local restaurateurs have brought their unique culinary offerings to the airport, ensuring that passengers can enjoy a taste of the region before they even leave the ground. Among the new dining options at Concourse A are:
- Sarasota To Go: Perfect for those on the move, this spot offers grab-and-go sandwiches and freshly brewed Peet’s Coffee.
- Patrick’s 1481: A downtown Sarasota staple, known for its burgers and classic American cuisine, now features a sit-down restaurant in the terminal.
- Anna Maria Oyster Bar: The popular local seafood chain has opened a full-service restaurant and bar, bringing a taste of coastal Florida to the concourse.

Enhanced Amenities for a Premium Experience
The terminal’s design emphasizes passenger comfort and efficiency. With spacious seating areas, plenty of charging stations, and an abundance of natural light, the space creates a relaxing environment for travelers. Additionally, the terminal offers free Wi-Fi, family-friendly play areas, and upgraded baggage handling systems to streamline the travel process.
“This terminal represents our vision for the future of travel at SRQ,” said Rick Piccolo, President, and CEO of Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport. “We’ve created a space that reflects the charm and vibrancy of the Sarasota-Bradenton community while providing the amenities and services our passengers deserve.”
Thoughtful Design and Modern Facilities
Equipped with five gates and an additional remote-use gate, Concourse A is built to handle increased passenger traffic with ease. The terminal also boasts state-of-the-art amenities:
- All-in-One Bathrooms: These innovative spaces cater to diverse needs, featuring a mother’s feeding room, ADA-compliant facilities, and a dedicated pet relief area. The pet relief room includes artificial turf, a drinking bowl, and even a mini fire hydrant for added flair. “We wanted to do it really nice,” Piccolo emphasized, highlighting the airport’s commitment to modern standards.
- Pre-TSA Amenities: An all-in-one bathroom area is also available before the security checkpoint, ensuring convenience for passengers at every stage of their journey.
- Comfortable Seating and Charging Stations: The gate area offers ample seating, including options designed for travelers with disabilities, along with numerous charging stations to keep devices powered.

A Boost for the Local Economy
The opening of the new terminal is also a significant win for the local economy. By partnering with Sarasota-based businesses for the terminal’s dining and retail options, SRQ has ensured that the economic benefits of this expansion extend well beyond the airport itself. Local vendors have not only gained visibility among a broader audience but also created new jobs for area residents.
Looking Ahead
As the new terminal begins operations, passengers can expect a seamless and enjoyable travel experience, from check-in to takeoff. With Allegiant Airlines’ expanded presence and the addition of local dining and retail options, SRQ continues to solidify its reputation as a premier gateway to Florida’s Gulf Coast.
Whether you’re a local traveler heading out on a quick getaway or a visitor arriving to explore the beauty of Sarasota and Bradenton, the new terminal at Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport promises to be a memorable part of your journey.
