Frontier Airlines Expands Reach with New Nonstop Service from Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport

Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport (SRQ) continues to expand its offerings, welcoming a new nonstop route launched by Frontier Airlines this week. This addition is part of an exciting initiative that will see SRQ’s flight network grow to a total of 67 nonstop routes by the spring of 2025. The latest route connects SRQ to Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD), marking the beginning of Frontier’s service on the popular route, which will operate three times a week.

The nonstop flights from Sarasota-Bradenton to Chicago, which launched on Wednesday, are priced as low as $29 when booked by January 11, 2025, for travel between January 6 and April 17, 2025. However, passengers should note some blackout dates during peak travel times, including February 14, February 16-17, March 7-9, March 14-16, March 21-23, March 28-30, and April 4-6, 2025.

This launch is part of a record-breaking year for SRQ, which introduced 19 new flights in 2024. This marks the highest number of new routes ever added by the airport in a single year. These additions are expected to significantly increase passenger traffic at SRQ, offering more travel options for both leisure and business travelers.

In addition to Frontier’s new service, the airport is celebrating its strong upward trend in passenger traffic during the first half of 2024. Despite challenges posed by hurricanes—especially the impacts of Hurricane Milton, which led to a temporary closure of the airport and significant damage in October—SRQ remains an important hub for both local and international travel. Following the storm’s disruptions, the airport is recovering and expects to bounce back in 2025, especially with the highly anticipated opening of its new terminal on January 14, 2025.
