Frontier Airlines Cuts More Than 20 Routes, Including Sarasota, Tampa, Orlando and Miami Flights
Frontier’s latest schedule changes will affect several Florida airports, including Sarasota-Bradenton, Tampa, Orlando and Miami.
Frontier Airlines is making another round of major schedule cuts, and this one hits close to home for Florida Suncoast travelers.
According to a new report from Simple Flying, Frontier Airlines is exiting six cities and suspending or discontinuing more than 20 routes as the low-cost carrier reshapes its network for the second half of 2026.
The changes are based on airline schedule filings and were also detailed by AeroRoutes, which tracks airline route adjustments. As of the June 21, 2026 schedule filing, Frontier is removing or not filing a number of routes for travel after mid-August or early September.
For the Florida Suncoast, the biggest local impact is Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport. Frontier’s Cleveland-to-Sarasota route is listed with a final flight date of July 2, 2026. AeroRoutes also lists Sarasota among the markets Frontier is exiting, though it notes that some discontinued routes and exited markets could return in future schedule updates.
That is important for travelers to understand. Airline route cuts are not always permanent, especially with ultra-low-cost carriers like Frontier. These airlines frequently adjust schedules based on demand, aircraft availability, seasonality, costs and profitability. Still, when a route disappears from the schedule, passengers who relied on that nonstop option may need to look at nearby airports, connecting flights or competing airlines.

The schedule filing also lists six markets Frontier is exiting:

For Sarasota-Bradenton travelers, this is the most important part of the news. Frontier’s Cleveland-to-Sarasota service gave local passengers another low-cost nonstop option into the Midwest. With the route ending, travelers may need to check flights from Tampa, St. Pete-Clearwater, Fort Myers or Orlando, depending on destination and price.
What This Means for Suncoast Travelers
The loss of a nonstop route does not mean the airport is struggling. Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport has been one of Florida’s fastest-growing airports in recent years, adding carriers, routes and passengers as more people move to and visit the region. But airline schedules are constantly changing. Low-cost carriers in particular tend to move aircraft quickly toward routes that produce stronger bookings and higher returns. If a route does not perform well enough, it can disappear from the schedule even if the airport itself remains healthy.
For travelers, the best advice is simple: check your itinerary directly with Frontier if you are booked on one of the affected routes. If your flight has been changed or canceled, review your refund or rebooking options through the airline. Travelers planning late-summer or fall trips should also compare nearby airports before booking.
The Bigger Picture
Frontier’s latest cuts show how competitive the low-cost airline business remains. Even as carriers announce new routes, they are also trimming flights that do not fit their long-term plans. Suncoast travelers have seen that pattern recently with Allegiant route cuts and other shifting airline schedules across Florida.
For the Florida Suncoast, the Sarasota cut is disappointing, especially for passengers who used the nonstop Cleveland service. Tampa travelers will also lose Frontier’s nonstop options to Las Vegas and Santo Domingo later this summer.
The good news is that Florida remains one of the most important air travel markets in the country. Routes come and go, but demand for travel to and from the Sunshine State remains strong. The question now is whether Frontier eventually restores some of these routes, or whether other carriers step in to fill the gaps.
