Florida Gas Prices Drop Below $3 Per Gallon in Many Cities — How Long Will It Last?

| Suncoast Post Staff |

Gas prices across Florida have dropped significantly, with many regions now seeing average prices dip below $3 per gallon — but experts warn the relief might not last much longer.

According to AAA and GasBuddy, prices at the pump have fallen by double digits in some areas compared to just a week ago. Miami-Dade, for example, saw a 6.9-cent drop from the previous week, bringing the average price to $2.94 per gallon. Fort Lauderdale prices also slid to $2.99, and West Palm Beach/Boca Raton reported an average of $3.12 — a 10-cent dip.

“Every little bit adds up for drivers navigating the road and their budgets,” said AAA spokesperson Mark Jenkins. “Unfortunately, the downward trend may not continue much longer. Oil prices moved higher last week after the U.S. imposed sanctions on Iranian oil.”

  • Florida State Average: $2.99/gallon (down 11 cents from last week)
  • Cheapest Region: North Florida, particularly Pensacola ($2.78) and Panama City ($2.83)
  • Most Expensive Areas: Naples ($3.05) and West Palm Beach/Boca Raton ($3.12)

⚠️ Will Prices Go Back Up?

While current prices offer relief for travelers and commuters, geopolitical events could reverse the trend. Oil prices recently jumped after the U.S. imposed new sanctions on Iranian crude exports. If tensions escalate or supply tightens, prices could rise again in the coming weeks.

Stay updated on gas prices and plan ahead for your road trips—because when it comes to filling up in Florida, every cent counts.
