Finally! Non-Stop Service Between SRQ Airport and Long Island!
Travelers rejoice! Sarasota is set to become the newest nonstop destination from Long Island MacArthur Airport, thanks to Breeze Airways adding two weekly nonstop flights to this beautiful Gulf Coast locale. Starting November 21st, the airline will offer flights on Thursdays and Sundays, making it easier than ever for Long Islanders to escape to the sun-soaked beaches of Sarasota and Bradenton.
This new Sarasota-Bradenton route marks Breeze Airways‘ seventh year-round nonstop destination from Islip since the airline launched at the airport in February 2022. It’s also the third Florida destination added to Breeze’s growing list, alongside Vero Beach and Fort Myers, the latter beginning service in October.
The addition of Sarasota-Bradenton is particularly significant for Long Island residents and visitors. Long Island, with its rich history, vibrant culture, and diverse economy, is home to over 7.5 million people. It is a major hub for both business and leisure travel, with a growing demand for convenient access to popular destinations like Florida. For many Long Islanders, Sarasota is more than just a getaway—it’s a second home, a place where they can enjoy the warm weather, cultural attractions, and beautiful beaches during the colder months up north.
The establishment of this nonstop service between Sarasota International Airport (SRQ) and Long Island MacArthur Airport (ISP) is a game-changer for both regions. For Sarasota, it opens up a direct line to one of the most populous and economically significant areas in the United States, potentially boosting tourism and business connections. For Long Islanders, it provides a convenient and efficient way to reach Florida’s Gulf Coast without the hassle of connecting flights or lengthy drives.
“Today’s announcement reinforces Breeze Airways’ focus and commitment to serving Long Island while underscoring MacArthur Airport’s dual role as our region’s ‘air bridge’ to national markets and as an economic engine for the Island,” said Kyle Strober, executive director of the Association for a Better Long Island, in a statement on Wednesday.
This new route is not just about convenience—it’s about strengthening ties between two vibrant regions, fostering economic growth, and providing travelers with more options to explore the best of both worlds. Whether you’re a snowbird seeking warmer pastures or a Floridian looking to experience the charm of Long Island, this new nonstop service is a welcome addition to the skies.
