Allegiant at SRQ: 32 Weekly Departures Connect Sarasota-Bradenton to Cities Across the U.S.

Travelers flying through Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport have watched Allegiant Air grow from a relatively small presence into one of the airport's most important carriers.

A look at the official September flight schedule from Sarasota Bradenton International Airport (SRQ) shows just how significant Allegiant's presence has become.

For the seven-day period from Thursday, September 24 through Wednesday, September 30, 2026, Allegiant is scheduled to operate 32 departing flights from SRQ. With inbound flights included, that represents approximately 64 Allegiant flight operations during the week.

That's particularly notable because late September is not the peak winter travel season on Florida's Gulf Coast.

Where Is Allegiant Flying This Week?

During the September 24–30 period, Allegiant's scheduled SRQ departures connect Sarasota-Bradenton with 15 different destinations:

  • Akron-Canton, Ohio
  • Allentown/Lehigh Valley, Pennsylvania
  • Appleton/Green Bay, Wisconsin
  • Asheville, North Carolina
  • Boston, Massachusetts
  • Cincinnati, Ohio
  • Flint, Michigan
  • Grand Rapids, Michigan
  • Harrisburg, Pennsylvania
  • Indianapolis, Indiana
  • Knoxville, Tennessee
  • Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
  • Rockford, Illinois
  • Columbus/Rickenbacker, Ohio
  • Syracuse, New York

The schedule varies considerably by day.

On Thursday, September 24, Allegiant has nine departures scheduled. Friday has five, Saturday currently has none, Sunday has nine, Monday has five, Tuesday has none and Wednesday has four.

That pattern reflects an important feature of Allegiant's business model: unlike traditional airlines that may operate the same route every day, Allegiant frequently flies routes only two or three times per week and adjusts frequencies according to seasonal demand.

Allegiant's SRQ Network Is Much Bigger Than One Week's Schedule

The 15 destinations operating during this particular September week don't represent Allegiant's entire Sarasota-Bradenton network.

The current Allegiant Air route map lists 33 destinations connected with Sarasota-Bradenton, including markets in the Northeast, Midwest and Southeast. Many of those routes are seasonal and are not operating every week of the year.

Among the cities on Allegiant's current SRQ route map are Albany, Austin, Boston, Cincinnati, Des Moines, Flint, Fort Wayne, Grand Rapids, Greenville-Spartanburg, Indianapolis, Knoxville, Lexington, Louisville, Omaha, Pittsburgh, Providence, Rochester, Syracuse and Washington-Dulles, along with numerous smaller and mid-size communities.

That is one reason simply asking how many Allegiant flights operate "per week" can produce very different answers depending on the time of year.

Winter Is a Different Story at SRQ

Florida's Gulf Coast aviation market is highly seasonal.

As winter residents and vacationers begin returning to Sarasota, Bradenton, Anna Maria Island, Longboat Key and surrounding communities, airlines typically increase service.

Allegiant is particularly suited to that type of market because it can add flights when leisure demand is high and reduce frequencies during slower periods.

The airline describes SRQ as one of its largest operating bases, and its Sarasota-Bradenton operation has expanded dramatically since Allegiant arrived in 2018. Sarasota Bradenton International Airport

Consequently, travelers should expect the number of weekly Allegiant flights at SRQ to rise as the region moves deeper into the fall and winter season.

From Three Destinations to More Than 30

When Allegiant began serving Sarasota-Bradenton in 2018, it initially offered flights to only three destinations.

By May 2026, SRQ reported that Allegiant had carried more than 5 million passengers through the airport and was serving 34 destinations at that time. The airline also operates from SRQ's newer Concourse A.

The current Allegiant route map now displays 33 Sarasota-Bradenton destinations, demonstrating how routes can be added, removed or changed seasonally. Allegiant Air

That growth has made Allegiant an important part of SRQ's transformation from a smaller regional airport into a major gateway for Florida's Gulf Coast.

More Allegiant Service Is Already Planned

Allegiant continues to adjust and expand its Sarasota-Bradenton schedule.

Beginning February 10, 2027, Allegiant plans to increase its Flint, Michigan-SRQ service to three days per week — Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Allegiant Air

The airline has also announced a limited seasonal Providence, Rhode Island-SRQ route beginning February 13, 2027 and continuing through April 24, 2027, targeting the busy spring travel period. Allegiant Newsroom

Those announcements reinforce how heavily Allegiant tailors its Sarasota-Bradenton schedule to seasonal leisure travel.

What 32 Weekly Departures Really Means

The current 32 departures translate to an average of approximately 4.6 Allegiant departures per day, but that average can be misleading because flights are concentrated on particular days.

Thursday and Sunday, for example, each have nine scheduled Allegiant departures during the current week, while Tuesday has none.

The airline is also largely using Airbus aircraft with approximately 180 seats, with some flights using 190-seat aircraft. Based on SRQ's published schedule, Allegiant is offering approximately 5,780 departing seats from SRQ during the September 24–30 period.

With arriving seats included, that puts the airline's potential weekly passenger capacity through SRQ at well over 11,000 seats during this late-September week.

Why Allegiant Matters to Sarasota and Bradenton

Allegiant's strategy is somewhat different from carriers that depend heavily on connecting passengers through major hubs.

Its flights are built primarily around nonstop leisure travel, connecting Sarasota-Bradenton directly with communities that might otherwise require travelers to change planes in Atlanta, Charlotte, Chicago or another large hub.

For Suncoast residents, that means more opportunities to fly nonstop to visit friends and family.

For visitors, it provides direct access to Sarasota, Bradenton, Anna Maria Island, Longboat Key, Lakewood Ranch and the surrounding Gulf Coast without first connecting through another Florida airport.

A Number That Will Keep Changing

So, how many Allegiant flights does Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport have each week?

Right now, the answer is 32 scheduled Allegiant departures for September 24–30, or approximately 64 total arriving and departing flights.

But that number should be viewed as a snapshot rather than a permanent schedule.

As Southwest Florida moves into its busy fall, winter and spring tourism season, Allegiant's frequencies and available destinations can increase significantly.

For travelers, the important takeaway is that Allegiant has developed SRQ into one of its major Florida operations — and with more than 30 nonstop destinations in its broader Sarasota-Bradenton network, the airline continues to play a major role in connecting the Florida Suncoast with communities across the country.
