Trending Fashion for Summer 2013
Not all of us can afford designer duds, but some of us are very clever and find those same looks elsewhere and cheaper. Just so you know you’re fashionably “correct”, here from Marie Claire Magazine are the latest forecasts for fashion this summer. And don’t be afraid to go to your local Goodwill or Salvation Army stores. Many period pieces of good fashion have been known to reside there.
If you’re trending monochrome, take a lesson from Gucci and Mark Jacobs. Who says black and white is over? Wear it with pride. Everything from jackets to shoes to formalwear, and you don’t have to even think about it. Black and white is here to stay.
Take a walk down the trippy garden path! From plastic roses at Holly Fulton, pop art daisies at Prada and gemstone gerberas at Moschino, flowers have never been so chemically enhanced. So wear those bright colors as well, with gorgeous garden flowers and big daisies that are back from the 60’s.
Aqua Fresh is also very popular for summer. The azure tones of the sea, birds-egg blue, turquoise, you name it. Feeling blue? Well it is this season’s most eye-catching trend. There are many shades but only one color to sport this summer. From cobalt at Etro to cornflower at Chalayan and aquamarine at Zac Posen, take a deep breath and dive in. Check your local consignment shops for the upscale brands that end up as special treasures in these stores.
Trend …Clever prints are in! 2013 is all about letting your clothes do the talking – foreign postage stamps at Mary Katrantzou, Sicilian folklore at Dolce & Gabbana and colorful exaggerated leopard print at Kenzo. Go bold, go bright, go forth.
Trend: Swinging Fringing. From glitzy metallic fringing at Versace to leather at Rodarte, silk at Nina Ricci and raffia at Donna Karan – it’s evident for SS/13 it’s all about the shimmy detailing. So drag out your old fringe bags, shoulder wraps with fringes and you’ll be trending vintage as well as 2013!
Sit up and pay attention please. It’s time to go back to geometry class. Thankfully fashion is much more exciting with jumbo checks at Marc Jacobs and super even stripes at Moschino. So grab your ruler and measure up this SS/13. You can find similar geometric prints all over your local mall. Who says you need the hefty price tag?
Trend: Geisha Delisha at Prada, Hermes, Etro and Emporio Armani all looking Eastward for inspiration this SS/13. To create your own origami shaped masterpiece take one quilted kimono jacket, fasten with an obi belt then shuffle onwards and upwards in your leather judo socks. These looks are available at local flea markets and ethnic Indian/Chinese stores that you’ll find in Sarasota.
Trend: Sixties Super Graphic. Take a trip back to the sixties with bold primary colours and pop-art prints spliced together. Art degree optional. It’s about your style, your interpretation, your individual signature. Go for it!
Also remember that you can be a trender by starting a whole new look. This is fun, not competitive. Keep your own secrets where you picked up these amazing finds. The world is your runway. Enjoy!
