THE SERVING SPOON IN SARASOTA CELEBRATES 20 YEARS AND GIVES BACK

| Sande Caplin |

The Serving Spoon restaurant will celebrate Its 20 year “Spooniversary” this week by rolling out their original 1998 menu and prices on Wednesday, July 18th. The Serving Spoon has been a local favorite, owned and operated by Craig and Natasha Menke for 20 years. The day is also special because it falls on what would have been Craig Menke’s 49th birthday. Craig Menke died of a brain tumor in February of 2014 after a courageous 4-year battle fighting Neuroblastoma.

“I wanted to do something that would help leave a footprint to the legacy he started. If you knew Craig or knew him through me you knew he was extremely generous and giving” commented, owner Natasha Menke. “He raised countless funds for diabetes as he was a Type 1 diabetic. He had a foundation and hosted many notorious kickball gamesand other events to fund diabetic research. He participated in adventure races and runs for cancer before he was ever diagnosed. Probably the most admirable was that he volunteered with Team Tony to speak with newly diagnosed brain tumor patients after his surgery and coinciding with his own personal stage 4 battle to help alleviate their fears and anxiety and to help them know that life is still full and happy and fun; even with a brain tumor.”

In addition to offering the nostalgic menu, The Serving Spoon will be accepting donations to the Preston Robert Tisch Brain Tumor Center which provided the Craig, Natasha and their 5 children with much needed hope, time, love, and light. It’s their way of giving back to an organization that gave them so much in return.

The Serving Spoon restaurant is located at 1825 S. Osprey Avenue, Sarasota, FL 34239  https://theservingspoonsarasota.com
