We all scream for Ice Cream!” Get your spoons ready because July 21 is National Ice Cream Day. The day was designated in 1984 by President Ronald Reagan to commemorate a treat that 90% of Americans indulge in.

Americans consume more ice cream than any other nation. Here are some fun facts based on findings from the National Today data science team who surveyed 2,000 Americans about ice cream.

Americans consume more ice cream than any other nation.40 % of Americans have eaten an entire pint of ice cream by themselves. Not surprising, considering the state of many American’s health.

Women prefer Ben and Jerry’s Ice cream.

Men choose Breyers brand as their favorite.

Mint chocolate chip is the preferred flavor in the 14-17 year old age group.

Those 18-24 like cookies and cream the best

If you’re 25-34, your flavor of choice is cookie dough

Anyone 35 and older prefers chocolate.

These days there are so many options in the marketplace whether you eat real dairy ice cream, follow a vegan diet or you’re lactose intolerant. My personal non-dairy frozen treat is the Magnum (non dairy) Ice Cream bar. Made with coconut milk, I challenge anyone to try it and not like it.

If ice cream isn’t your go-to dessert, don’t despair. July 21 is also designated as National Junk Food Day. And we all know there’s no shortage of junk food to be had wherever you are! So head to your nearest ice cream stand and get yourself a refreshing treat. As for me, I’ll probably make a fruit smoothie and call it a day!
