Sarasota, Bradenton and Beyond – It’s Not the Time to Ease Up on Social Distancing
Our team at the Suncoast Post does our best not to do any political stories or controversial stories. It is just not what we do. I am going to make an exception here about Social Distancing.
We are living in unimaginable times. No one could have predicted what the world is going through. Businesses are closed, restaurants are in deep trouble, so many great and wonderful folks have lost their jobs. I could go on and on. We read about it and watch it on the news every day.
The talk is now about “opening up our economy again.” To be sure, I agree that sooner or later we have to get businesses going again. It is not IF, it is WHEN. Now, I will leave that decision to the people who are in charge….. for better or worse.
As we wait…
In the meantime, I am growing concerned that lots of folks in our area and many other places are letting their guard down. With the weekend here (yes, it is the weekend) I have heard some talk about folks gathering in areas where they will be close together, going boating with no thought about social distancing, not wearing masks or other protective gear and more. What happened to “flattening the curve?”
I am worried. For my kids, my grandkids, my friends, relatives; I am just plain worried.
Please everyone, take a step back. Take a deep breath. Now is NOT the time to let our guard down. Some of us still have jobs and have to go to work every day. Be vigilant, wear your mask and wash your hands.
Some of us have to go to the grocery store, drug store and other establishments. Again, be vigilant, wear your mask and wash your hands.
This will all end soon. Let’s not go backwards. Let’s continue to flatten the curve. The quarantine is working, social distancing is working. Now is NOT the time to stop.
Love to you all. Be safe and make smart choices.
