Our Visit to Paradise, Cabo San Lucas

| Sande Caplin |

Cabo San Lucas, located at the southern tip of Mexico’s Baja California Peninsula, has long been a sought-after destination for travelers looking for a mix of relaxation, adventure, and culinary delights. This vibrant coastal town is known for its stunning beaches, luxurious resorts, and lively nightlife, as well as its deep history and cultural significance. Our recent visit to Cabo San Lucas was filled with unforgettable experiences, from exploring local markets to indulging in world-class dining, all while soaking in the breathtaking scenery. Staying at the Cora Condominiums (where my very dear friends own a unit) provided the perfect home base for our trip, and each day was a new adventure in this stunning paradise.

A Glimpse into Cabo San Lucas’ History

Cabo San Lucas was originally inhabited by the Pericú people, an indigenous group known for their fishing and gathering lifestyle. When Spanish explorers arrived in the 16th century, they discovered a region rich in marine life. However, it wasn’t until the 20th century that Cabo began its transformation into the luxury tourist destination it is today. Once a quiet fishing village, it has evolved into a hub for sport fishing, golfing, and fine dining, attracting visitors from around the world. Today, Cabo San Lucas blends its deep-rooted history with modern elegance, offering something for every traveler.

A Comfortable Stay at Cora Condominiums

During our visit, we stayed at the Cora Condominiums, a luxurious and comfortable retreat that provided an excellent balance of privacy and convenience. The accommodations were well-appointed, with stunning mountain views, easy access to the beach, and all the modern amenities one could ask for. The location was ideal for exploring the local dining scene and shopping destinations.  And best of all, we were with our friends, which made it just so comfortable.

Culinary Delights in Cabo

One of the highlights of our trip was indulging in the incredible food scene. Each meal was an opportunity to experience Cabo’s rich flavors and culinary diversity.

Mama Mia’s

Lunch & Drinks at Mama Mia’s
Mama Mia’s is a charming beachfront restaurant known for its refreshing cocktails and delicious Mexican cuisine. Sipping on a margarita while enjoying the ocean breeze was the perfect way to start our culinary journey in Cabo. The relaxed atmosphere and friendly staff made it a memorable dining experience.

Shopping at La Comer & Chedraui
These two markets are essential stops for both locals and visitors. La Comer is known for its high-quality grocery selection, fresh produce, and gourmet items, while Chedraui offers a more traditional shopping experience with a variety of local and international products. Stocking up on snacks and drinks for our stay was an enjoyable part of immersing us in the local lifestyle.

The Office

Dinner at The Office
A visit to Cabo San Lucas would not be complete without dining at The Office, one of the most iconic beachfront restaurants in the area. The lively atmosphere, excellent seafood, and prime location right on the sand made for an unforgettable evening. My friends had grilled fish tacos and shrimp dishes, and they said, “were among the best they’ve ever had.”  I had a special Octupus dish in a green sauce which was phenomenal.  And the view was marvelous!

Lunch at Flora Farms
Flora Farms is a hidden gem nestled in the foothills of the Sierra de la Laguna Mountains. This organic farm and restaurant offer farm-to-table cuisine that showcases the freshest ingredients. Lunch here was a peaceful retreat from the bustling city, with dishes that highlighted local produce and artisanal flavors. The homemade pizzas and garden-fresh salads were simply divine.

Pizza & Live Music at La Osteria
La Osteria is a cozy Italian eatery known for its wood-fired pizzas and vibrant live music. The combination of authentic flavors and a lively ambiance made for a delightful evening. Their margherita pizza paired with a glass of Mexican wine was a standout meal.  Oh, I love Mexican Beer!  I tried many.

Breakfast at Cream Café at Las Palmilla Shopping Center
Starting day 3 day at Cream Café in Las Palmilla Shopping Center was a treat. Their expertly brewed coffee and fresh pastries provided the perfect morning pick-me-up. The avocado toast and freshly squeezed juices set the tone for a day full of exploration.  And the Omelets were just so good.

Shopping at California Ranch Market
For gourmet and organic products, California Ranch Market was an excellent stop. This high-end grocery store offers a great selection of imported goods and locally sourced organic produce, making it a great place to find quality ingredients.

Sushi

Dinner at Kahe Sushi
Cabo’s dining scene wouldn’t be complete without trying some fresh seafood in the form of sushi. Kahe Sushi delivered an outstanding experience with its perfectly crafted sushi rolls and sashimi. The combination of fresh fish and creative flavors made this dinner a standout. It was a bit tricky ordering because none of the servers spoke English!  So, we winged it and asked the server to bring out what he thought was the best.  So much fun.

Farmer’s Market at Las Palmilla Shopping Center
Exploring the Las Palmilla Farmers Market was an enriching experience. Local vendors offered an array of handmade crafts, organic produce, and artisanal foods. It was a great place to support small businesses and discover unique souvenirs.

Valentine’s Dinner at The District
Celebrating Valentine’s Day at The District was an unforgettable experience. The restaurant is also a well-known sports bar and there was so much going on.  A duo played great music, fabulous drinks including ice cold beer and delicious food.  I had ribs that literally fell off the bone, oh so good.

Exploring Cabo Beyond the Dining Scene

While our visit was centered around incredible food, we also took time to appreciate the natural beauty and cultural attractions of Cabo San Lucas. The famous El Arco, a natural rock formation at the meeting point of the Pacific Ocean and the Sea of Cortez, is a must-see landmark. The breathtaking views of this stunning arch and the nearby Lover’s Beach, a serene and picturesque spot perfect for relaxation.

Elarco

The town itself is full of charming boutiques, art galleries, and vibrant nightlife, making it an exciting destination for visitors of all interests. Whether it was strolling through the marina or enjoying a sunset over the ocean, every moment in Cabo felt special.

Final Thoughts

Our visit to Cabo San Lucas was a perfect blend of relaxation, exploration, and culinary indulgence. Staying at Cora Condominiums offered the ideal retreat, while dining at some of Cabo’s best restaurants allowed us to experience the local flavors. From the bustling farmers markets to the breathtaking coastal views, every aspect of our trip was memorable. Cabo’s unique blend of history, culture, and modern luxury makes it a destination we can’t wait to return to. If you’re looking for a place that offers both adventure and tranquility, Cabo San Lucas should be at the top of your travel list.
