Meet “Fly Girl” and “Drone Boy”, Laura Adams – Jack Elka

Who would think that a world class photographer would meet up with a lady in the health care field and spend hours and hours talking about drones, flying drones and Dronography! (yes, there is such a word!) The definition is the branch of photography that deals with using cameras mounted on small, portable drones to capture aerial views of various subjects.

Jack Elka has been flying drones for the past 3 years and has built several of them from scratch. Jack is best known for Jack Elka Photography based in Anna Maria Island. He also has a drone flying school and gives lessons on how to fly. Jack is known as “Drone Boy” around town!

Laura Adams was given the opportunity to learn how to fly a drone from the team at Sande Caplin and Associates. Another drone pilot, James Newton gave her some beginner lessons. She has been sharpening her skills at many different places in our area. Laura’s flight name is “Fly Girl”.

Jack and Laura have logged many hours of flying drones and have some great footage that they have shared. Jack’s drone footage of Anna Maria Island are awesome and Laura had some great fireworks video taken this summer along with lots of other footage from our area.

Watching the two of them fly together is so much fun. They always remind everyone that safety is #1 when they fly.
