Mary Poppins Returns- A Suncoast Sneak Peek!

The Oakmont 8 Theater in Bradenton had a 12-noon showing of Mary Poppins today.  I thought, why not reserve a couple of nice lounge chairs on-line and start off the holiday weekend on a nice note.  Oh, what a fabulous movie!

I certainly won’t give anything away!  I will say that I remember the original many years ago, released in 1964!  The special effects back then were state of the art.  The new release has the same flavor of the original with awesome animation and special effects.

Bank teller Michael Banks was served with papers saying that his house will be repossessed in 5 days unless he pays back a loan that he took out against the house.   He needed to find missing stock certificates that his father had left to him.  Without sharing more, the special and loved nanny from childhood arrives and well…. I am not saying more.

The cast includes Emily Blunt as Mary Poppins, Dick Van Dyke as Mr. Dawes, Lin-Manuel Miranda as Jack, Angela Lansbury as the Baloon Lady, Meryl Streep playing Topsy, Ben Whishaw as Michael Banks, Emily Mortimer as Jane Banks along with many other top stars!

I thoroughly enjoyed the movie and would recommend seeing it this holiday week!  I know that Laura enjoyed the story too.  She’s still singing some of the songs from the movie!
