I Support an Assault Weapons Ban in 2018
There, I said it. It’s been on my mind for a while. We normally don’t share these kind of stories on the Sarasota Post, but I just could not hold it in anymore.
When I was in grade school, we had a fear of the Russians coming over and bombing the USA. We would have “air raid drills” and get under our desks in a crouched position. Thank the lord… nothing like that ever happened.
Today, it’s a different story. Our kids are being murdered in their schools, concert goers have terrible stories to share and it seems that not a week does go by without an automatic rifle being used to kill innocent people. This does not happen very often in other countries. The world is laughing at us.
No civilian should own an assault rifle. None of us should support companies that sell these weapons. Stop selling the ammunition for these types of guns. We have to start somewhere. I don’t have the answer but the kids from Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida are certainly out making a statement.
I want my grandkids to be safe in their schools. We all want our kids to be safe, we all want to enjoy concerts, we all want to have love. Let’s start doing something about it. Make assault weapons illegal. Oh, wake up all you politicians…. It’s time to figure this out or you will be voted out of office. I look forward to your comments.
