Hello. I’ve been stressed and sad lately as school is becoming too much and life at home is too hard for me to handle. On March 6th of this year my parents split up and it has been rough. I’m 15 years old and at this age and me being a girl growing into a women i feel like i’m not being supported enough as i should be. My schoolwork is becoming too much. It’s essay after essay and test after test. There is just too much stress for me to handle. What do i do to make myself happier?
Elder Response
Mel, my heart goes out to you. Your parents are going through a very difficult time in their lives, and it may be that their own concerns are overwhelming to them. Right now, they might not have enough emotional energy left to give you the support you deserve. The bottom line is that you need a support system. If there are family members you can turn to, please do so. If not, speak with a counselor at your school. You can also speak individually with your teachers. If you explain your home situation with them, they may be able to come up with a schedule that will work better for you. This is a tough time, indeed, but with support, you can make it through.
Best Regards,
Renee
