A Cortez Love Story

A Cortez Love Story

| Sande Caplin |

Bogey and Bacall. Brangelina. Beavis and Butthead. Humans have always had a fascinating obsession with a myriad of “dynamic duos” throughout the ages. We look up to them. We try to emulate them. For those who are unfamiliar, the dating pool in Cortez has historically been as shallow as its surrounding grass flats, giving the long-standing joke that everyone in Cortez is related some credible legs to stand on.

Even transplants to Cortez seem to fish in those same waters, as is the case with Cortez’s newest “power couple”. Yet another spring has sprung and drifted into summer, and with it love is in the air.  While not your typical celebrity Ken and Barbie couple, well maybe a Barbie but definitely not a Ken, these best-friends-turned-couple resemble more of a Lucy and Ricky meet Cheech and Chong kind of dynamic.

Beavis and Butthead
Ironically the two were listed brother and sister when the news went “Facebook Official” last month which only furthers their credibility as authentic “Cortez”. In all fairness I must disclose that I have a sister who is also my Aunt but is really my cousin, just to give you an idea of how things work around here. The initial reaction was solidly split between “never saw that coming” and “it’s about time”. Some were genuinely surprised due to the couples outstanding level of professionalism, the rest of us knew before they did. They are a perfect fit, like shrimp and grits, wine and cheese, tequila and bad decisions.

Personally, I have thought for years that these two would be perfect together, at the very least as a professional comic duo. I can’t really tell you how happy my heart is that two of my favorite people on the planet have found true happiness in one another, especially because it’s that pure, natural John and Yoko kind of thing. That’s something even Edith and Archie would agree on. I am looking forward to many years of watching their love story unfold. It is my absolute pleasure to introduce to you, the Camelot of Cortez…. BobKat.

Congratulations from all of us at The Sarasota Post!!!
