“There’s an artist in every child.”

So says, Catherine Thomas as she announces Acrylic Painting Summer Camps 2016. She admits full confidence that the kids will prove her words. “I wanted to create a small, intimate setting where the kids will have a very unique and personal experience while getting the opportunity to explore acrylic painting in much greater depth than is typical.”

Catherine offers two week-long summer camps where kids can dive into acrylic painting regardless of whether they’ve ever held a paintbrush in their hands. Paint and Publish is for ages 8-12, while Find the Picasso in You! is for ages 13-17.

Each week-long camp will be offered on consecutive weeks throughout June starting with the first on June 6th at Catherine’s new studio nestled into the beautiful Snug Harbor Village near Hidden Harbor Marina (down the street from Sarasota Square mall). 

For ages 8-12, from 10am to 1pm, Monday through Friday, children will be introduced to traditional and contemporary acrylic painting. They’ll have fun creating several pieces of art which will be professionally published in their very own full color coffee table art book—a lovely, lasting memory of your child’s camp experience.

In the 13-17 age group, from 2pm to 5pm, Monday through Friday, teens will learn techniques in traditional and contemporary acrylic painting as they create at least 3 canvas paintings. They’ll choose their favorite and help in framing their finished work—ready for hanging.

Each camp will costs $199 per youngster. All supplies are included along with snacks and water. The published art book and the framed canvas are also included.
“I’m excited,” says Catherine, “and I want to get parents excited about this. I put so much effort into making these camps one of a kind.”

Several of Catherine’s own paintings are being exhibited at Cafe L’Europe on St. Armand’s Circle. She signs her colorful creations as Ponto Lambert. “It’s a tribute to my parents, Mary Ponto and Edwin Lambert.” She also exhibits at local art festivals, and offers painting classes year round for adults and children.
