Local Programs Offer Low-Income Seniors a Way to Stay Active and Social

The key to a healthy life as a senior (both mentally and physically) is staying active and socially connected to others. Research has proven this over and over again. In fact, it is recommended that senior individuals get at least 30 minutes of physical activity almost every day of the week. Additionally, according to the Alzheimer’s Association, “higher levels of education appear to be somewhat protective against Alzheimer’s.” All research supports the need for seniors to continuously seek opportunities for education, social interaction, and physical activity.
