The Patterson Foundation of Sarasota, Florida Provides $250,000 for the Center for Disaster Philanthropy’s Hurricane Recovery Efforts

SARASOTA, Fla.  — The Patterson Foundation based in Sarasota, Florida provided a $250,000 contribution to the Center for Disaster Philanthropy’s (CDP) 2019 Atlantic Hurricane Season Recovery Fund. The gift will strengthen CDP’s support for medium- and long-term recovery efforts in the regions affected by Hurricane Dorian and catalyze additional donations.

Florida Hurricane Readiness Now

Sarasota, Bradenton, Venice, Tampa, Florida Suncoast-June is here!  That middle child of the calendar year, where we celebrate graduations and deserving dads.  We carve our watermelons and barbecue our briskets in celebration of the long days that June will bestow upon us.  Our kids will sleep in until the wee hours of the afternoons, celebrating their freedom and ability to break up the monotonous school-day routine.  You are a beauty and a beast, dear June, as not only the conduit for beachy afternoons with family and friends, but also as a beacon to prepare for what may come, whether we are ready or not.  Let’s be ready, friends, for Hurricane Season 2018.

Did the Native Americans Hurricane-Proof Manatee County?

While most of the country slept last Friday night, Florida was on edge and the Tampa Bay area was getting reports that the largest Atlantic hurricane in recent history was heading well… right for us. Reports fluctuated, as they often do, but it seemed that the eye of Hurricane Irma as a Category 4 or even 5 was a major possibility right here in Sarasota.
